I've been playing Ultimate since 1989, when a friend took me out to play at Utah State University. I have played ever since, with some extended breaks while I was in Peace Corps and traveling in Asia.
While I've played a lot of different sports, nothing compares with the speed, excitement and competition of Ultimate. It plays into my competitive tendencies, but requires creativity and working as a team player. When it is all said and done, the important thing is respect for the game and those you play with.
The most appealing side to Ultimate has to be the people. Wherever I have lived or traveled, I have meet great people -people who share the common "spirit" that makes the sport so great. This "spirit" goes beyond the playing field, and is the reason why most of my best friends play the game.
Highlights in my playing career include playing with Turbo Dog in Louisiana, one of the South's best teams and participating in the World Championships in Hawaii. All the teams I've played on have been great and the weekends spent playing in tournaments across the US and Asia have been some of the greatest moments in my life. |
Ultimate
Frisbee combines elements of soccer, football and basketball in a
fast-paced game, played with a frisbee, where everyone is a quarterback
and everyone is a receiver.
